Saw an ad today where the car was described as adequate!

That wasn’t the aim of the ad but thanks to the different usage of the word “grand” in the UK and Ireland that’s what happened.

There was obviously no one Irish on the team to advise that the tagline of “it’s not great, it’s grand” was going to mean something different in Ireland!

The closest comparison would be the usage of the word fine. I’m fine/I’m grand and all the different usages depending on the tone it’s used in.

Haha! Actually that's the sort of car I would totally buy so I love this! My car-buying checklist goes: 1) Does it get me from A to B? 2) Does it have enough doors? 3) Is it a colour I can live with? Sold.

The funny thing was they were really emphasising the bells and whistles the car had!

Ha, excellent.

I'm consistently amused by the Dacia Duster. I assume it's meant to leave its competitors in the dust. But it makes me think of the dog in Disneys Alice in Wonderland that had sweeping brushes for nose and tail.
