Would appreciate storage ideas for the dining room. Preferably with a free standing cupboard?

The dining room is decorated nicely. But the furniture is too eclectic. There's IKEA with traditional. I prefer traditional.

Any advice or ideas very welcome. TIA

How traditional do you want to go? What material(s) are you thinking about?

Wood. I have a grey painted sideboard with original handles. I know grey can be seen as boring but it goes well. There's mustard in other decor. Thanks for answering.

I found an old sideboard at an antiques fair - it's wood but it's VERY traditional - not to everyone's taste, I know. But it's great storage without a huge footprint - 4 cabinet doors with shelves, and 3 drawers. Not sure if you have any antique fairs near you, but if you're patient you might find something that suits.

Yes I'll check out the charity shops as got the sideboard from there and dh painted it. Or there's auctions.

Just wondered if anyone had seen anything in shops. But I agree about second hand being better really.

Yes, auctions could be a good source. And you're right about second-hand being better - I looked at some new things - swish and expensive - and they were flimsy compared to the older pieces.

I know almost a grand for shit. My sideboard is big and cost £45. Prices are a bit more now though.
