Anyone ever had the yips...did it go away?

I've done an artistic sport for about 15 years. It's got lots of similar disciplines within it but the current one I'm working on I've trained for about 18 months. Anyway, started my training session yesterday as normal... And I was suddenly unable to do one of the most basic starting manoeuvres... Its hard to explain but it would be the equivalent of getting in your car and suddenly forgetting how roundabouts work. Completely weird. I spent the whole 90 mins watching videos and trying and trying to work out what I was doing wrong. I was SURE I was doing it the way I always had...but it wasn't working. Reset all the equipment three times, made no difference. My friend was an amazing darts player before he got the yips and now his body is just incapable of throwing properly for no reason. So odd. The only time anything like this has happened before was when my mother died and forgot my PIN that I'd had for over ten years. Am I going mad??

Try to get some rest. Focus on eating and sleeping well, staying regularly hydrated and getting fresh air and natural light every day. Really try not to feel stress. Try your sport again in a week or 10 days, when you feel ready. You could take a list of written instructions. Good luck!
