Fed up with all the polyester!

I’m getting so frustrated shopping for nice knitwear. Why is everything polyester?! Such a horrible “fabric”, makes me feel like I can’t breathe.

Can anyone recommend a nice brand that uses natural materials?

Uniqlo has some good pure wool (I'm wearing some of their merino as I type).

Plastic clothing is what it is! You see a jumper with a label proudly proclaiming “I’m made from 90% recycled bottles!” …that’s not a good thing?! I just don’t get it.

Also, vegan leather?!

Thank you @SuperLoudPoppingAction, I’ll take a look at those.

Tbf, it sounds gross but my walking trousers madr from recycled bottles are great, and I'm all for recycling. I wouldn't fancy it on my top half clothes though.

Yep it's a distrace. H&M app and filter by wool (it also stocks cos and other stories)
Uniqlo has lots of lambswool
And vinted !

pizzapizzadaddio · 28/11/2024 23:00

Community clothing is worth a look too. I’ve never ordered from there but people rave about it.

I like ‘Cotton on’ and Uniqlo for tees/tops

I look for second hand benetton jumpers on vinted and ebay but no longer cheap as were great quality and last for years...the new stuff is awful, cheap wool and shapeless after a wash.

I tend to wear polyester knitwear only because I can't tolerate even the smallest bit of wool. The itching is horrendous. I wish that weren't the case.

Can you wear a cotton T-shirt/long sleeve underneath? That’s how I wear wool jumpers.

APurpleSquirrel · 28/11/2024 23:36

Fat face? You can filter by material & some are 100% cotton.

bluejelly · 29/11/2024 08:26

I totally feel your pain. Polyester will take hundreds of years to degrade. Can you imagine what the humans of 2100 will think of our addiction to fast fashion?
Searching for cotton cardigans on Vinted yields good results

Lolopolo · 29/11/2024 08:48

I buy mainly only cashmere. H&M, La Redoute… and Vinted.

Tumbleweed101 · 29/11/2024 08:50

I had some nice everyday type jumpers from cotton traders that are 100% cotton.

SuperfluousHen · 29/11/2024 09:03

Aran Mór makes lovely cardigans and jumpers using only Merino wool (less scratchy) with traditional stitches and a modern feel.

I live in them year round.

I’ve got a few from TK Maxx.

This looks like one of mine (that I’m wearing right now) from another shop, except mine’s a mossy green and double fronted.

I recently bought a 100% wool, made in UK dress from Celtic & Co and I'm really pleased with it. Wool can tend to make me itch, but it's super comfortable. Soft, warm yet breathable. I am thinking about a jumper from there next!
