Magnesium Help Please!

I'm hoping someone can help me choose a magnesium supplement.

ive tried magnesium before, to help ease joint pain & I didn't find it much help, and ive tried taking tumeric too, same again.

anyway I started taking the ones (both M&T) I already had, again. I thought I might as well use them up.

they seem to be helping this time. The swelling isn't so quite so bad, so a bit less pain & difficulty. I still wouldn't be able to kneel on them or anything (wasn't expecting miracles!!)

However, I've now run out of the magnesium & I would just buy the same ones again, except they're HUGE and I'm starting to really gag on them!!

but trying to choose another one is doing my foggy brain in!!

so I was hoping someone might have a suggestion?!

these are Solgar' brand 'Magnesium Citrate' (not any of their plus calcium/ zinc whatever)

im not sure what Elemental Magnesium they are ( or even what it is really!! But from what I gather it should be over 444mg 'daily'

so I m looking for magnesium citrate (not the others)
vegan
preferably tablet/caplets, not capsules

and preferably 1 tablet being the required amount, 2 at a push but definitely not more.

I think that covers it 😂😂

Does anyone have any suggestions??

oh & are Gummies any good??

I find magnesium supplementation endlessly confusing. I have been taking citrate supplements for constipation, but from various things I've read we shouldn't be taking them on a regular/ongoing basis. Can anyone shed any light on that?

The ones @soupfiend has linked look good, in that they include the citrate (which most combined ones don't seem to) - but I now don't know whether I should be taking magnesium every day.

I have recently started taking but they are H&B ones are not small. Can anyone share the benefits you have found from taking it?

Thank you all for your comments

I have since this thread landed myself in hospital and I am now on a multitude of medication

I have no idea why because none of the medication should be affecting my knees but at the moment my knees aren't too painful and I really don't want to be taking any thing else apart from the mess amount I've been prescribed. I'll be looking into the magnesium when life settle down a bit and once my medication is stable, I'll be able to see what supplements I'm allowed to take and what I'm not allowed to take.

Thank you all for your help and I'm sure other people will benefit from it as well

@goingdownfighting

yes and no

I had two strokes on the 2nd of January left and right. It's a long story and I won't bore you with it all, but I was in hospital for two weeks and I've been home two weeks. I was very lucky that it doesn't seem to have affected my brain or my speech or my face for being really shallow, I can still walk okay though not free far However I have no feeling in the right side of my body so I can walk but I can't feel you touching my leg and my right arm and hand move and a practical way if I'm looking at them like I can pick things up and that but my writing looks like a two year-old has screwed all over the page And I can't feel anything and I can't feel anything touching my arm or head or in fact the whole right hand side of my body I'm doing shit loads of stimulation stuff and occupational therapy to try and get the feeling back in it so all I can do is like try hard and hope a lot that I'll get the use back in my right side of the feeling the sensation more

The medication is making me feel absolutely ghastly and last night I took Henry amitriptyline to help with the nerve pain but it's made me feel drunk all day today and staggery and and unable to do any of my occupational therapy so I'm gonna give it a few days, but if it keeps making me feel like this I'll have to put up with the neuropathic pain because I can't spend days on end feeling like a zombie

But I the was very, very lucky to have had two strokes, but not to have had it affects my cognitive ability. You have to take the wins where you find them. Xx
