Next emailed parcels been collected when I haven't.

I ordered a coat on Next yesterday and it said it would be ready to collect today. I got an email about 2pm saying it was ready to collect but couldn't get there then as I had the nursery and school run, so thought I'd go tomorrow instead.

My next store is open until 8pm, I received an email at 8.50pm saying thank you for collecting your parcel ?????

any ideas , never had this happen before I'm worried someone has taken it and il be £120 out of pocket.

go tomorrow and ask them or ring.
They've probably just mixed things up and marked the wrong thing as collected on their system or the online order system has had a glitch.
They should ask for ID or an order number to collect, if they didn't then the fault is clearly theirs and they can refund you. There should be CCTV available to prove you didn't pick it up.

Worst comes to the worst you can make a claim on your credit/debit card.

People often type in the collection wrong number so a staff member will pick up the parcel but the name/post code won't match so they wont be given it. If you pop into the shop tomorrow and explain it'll have been put to one side.

Yes I've seen this happen in Next. A lady came rushing in saying she'd had an email confirming collection when she hadn't collected yet but it was this exact thing. Wrong order number used by another customer but the shop still had the parcel.

Ok thank you. I regularly collect things and have never been asked for ID so I panicked someone had been given it by accident or taken it. I paid with next pay, as I wanted to try it on first. So haven't actually paid for it but it's still on my next account.

Oh ok hoping it's something like this then. Will go straight down in the morning. I usually get the email saying thanks for collecting, as soon as I collect my item. So I was a bit confused why I got it after closing time at 8.50pm!

This happened to me
I spoke to customer services on the online chat and they refunded and gave me a voucher for the inconvenience!

I can imagine it's something like wrong order.

I once collected a parcel - wore said item (also a coat) lovingly for a month.

Then had an email thanking me for returning it and refunding the money to my account.

I have been down this morning and explained what happened. She asked my name and then looked like she knew the parcel? Told me to hang on a moment and went and got it. Not sure what happened just glad it was there! 😊
