Second hand Sylvanian animals - how to improve their smell

Sorry for weird thread title! I bought a load of second hand Sylvanian animals. They had clearly been stored in a garage or similar for some time. They smell damp and musty. I soaked them for a long time in washing detergent and fabric softener…they have now dried out, but still smell awful…but a weird perfumed awful smell now.

Does anyone have any advice on what I could do to make them smell better?

Bicarbonate of soda absorbs smells. Get a couple of tubs and put the animals in an airtight bag with the open tubs for as long as possible.

Thank you so much; I have a couple of tubs, so will do this asap!

I was going to suggest this too, baking soda is a wonderful product with many, many uses, one of which is to absorb odours. Hope it works for you OP.

If you read this without the context of the original post you'd be calling the RSPCA!
