What is THE PlayStation game? If there is one...

A bit like the switch had Zelda. Thinking of getting a PlayStation for Christmas and would like to get a couple of games. Nothing like GTA or overly violent (don't mind some, but not like some have).

Sci-fi/ fantasy/ open world/ puzzle type?

A PS or a PS5?

Maybe I also need advice on which one to buy!

Don't buy the pro, not worth the money.

There isn't really a 'the' game on PS, as it real depends on interests.

If you have a DS who is quite typical and into football and latest fads etc. - a combination of FC25 and Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has been a winning formula for about the last 15 years.

Depends on the interests of the person playing it, and what type of games they like to play (e.g shooters, rpg, etc etc)

Hogwarts legacy is a good open world/puzzle one.

Ah, look at horizon!

Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima are brilliant open world games.

I'd look at the Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest series.

You want baulders gate 3. I'm not big into gaming but its incredible and has won all the awards rightly so. Particularly good as he likes zelda, there is combat but its not stressful or overpowering and you can play the game how you want.

If he likes Elden Ring, look at other souls like games like Sekiro, Nioh, Lords of the Fallen. Or the precursors to ER: Dark Souls trilogy.

Red Dead.

Beautiful game. You can follow the story - but sometimes i just ride about on my horse see the wildlife, and camp out up in the rocky mountains or down in the swampy deep south 😃

Some of these seem to be PS4. I know the ps5 can play them, but should I be looking for a ps5 version?

If they have a ps5 version, it’ll be an upgraded game re. Graphics etc.

The ps4 versions will play just fine though, so it’s really up to you!

Red Dead is great! The Witcher 3 is another open world fantasy type game, lots of exploring and monsters. I'm replaying it now. Skyrim the Elder Scrolls V is what got me into gaming- don't know if it will play as well on the PS5 though, the graphics looked aged on the PS4.
