Last year I bust a gut getting an organic one and it was not that great.
Can anyone recommend a brand they use please.

I get mine from a local farm shop now but previously I bought Sainsburys smoked gammon and it was fine. The best I have ever had was from the butcher in Wabberthwaite in the Lake District.

@Chemenger wow that sounds delicious! I'm about 6 hours from the lakes.
I'd like to get one from my butcher but I don't actually know where any of his meat is from.

Just ask the butcher where it comes from.

In my experience most butchers use meat that is reasonably local.

I’ve always bought a large, bone in smoked from Morrisons and they’re excellent.

I just get a bog standard Tesco one.

We actually raise our own pigs, but the butcher who processes them doesn’t make a great gammon. They can be organic and free range, high welfare and live in the best conditions, like ours do. But if Bob the butcher doesn’t know how to brine and smoke them well, then they won’t be great. Regular old Tesco one was good though.

Any more for any more, gammon
