Has anyone taken their 6 or 7 year old to the wicked movie…did they enjoy it? Was it suitable? Did they sit through it ok given the length? Thanks

I went on Friday and there were a few kids around that age who seemed fine. There were a couple of younger kids getting restless but we went to the 2000 showing so they were probably over tired.

I wouldn’t take my girls that age, took my 11 year old today who loved it but there’s a couple of pretty scary/creepy bits! My younger girls would have been terrified. But they are very soft 🤣

My 10yo was scared of the flying monkeys, but he isn't a fan of anything remotely 'scary' so it depends on the child.

It is long though, so I would book an isle seat because they'll most likely need a toilet break midway through.

My nine year old found the flying monkeys scary/upsetting too. I think 6 may be a bit young to be honest; it’s a very long film and they may struggle to follow aspects of the plot.

It's pretty long to sit through for a 6 year old. It depends on how good they are at sitting through a film. It's 2 hours 40 mins.

I think that my own DDs probably would have been ok watching it at that age. They loved Harry Potter around then.

I wouldn't say there is anything particularly unsuitable in Wicked but I think that the flying monkeys would have scared me as a child. I used to be frightened of the ones in the Wizard of Oz when I was little, and they are clearly blokes dressed as monkeys. The ones in Wicked are actual CGI monkeys. There's a scene where the monkeys fly against the windows and made my 17 year old jump. We were giggling because she's a baby (won't watch horror films as she hates jump scares but she got one in Wicked, which is now her favourite film).

I took my 10 and 7 year old.
10 year old LOVED it.
7 year old liked it and was interested. Got a bit restless in the middle but came and cuddled up on my lap and regained focus, has since been singing all the songs around the house.
