BEDBUG HELP

Lotusflower92 · 24/11/2024 22:03

Hello

ive just changed my dc’s bed and asked my husband to lift her mattress while I hoover under the bed and I found what looked like a bedbug on the side of her fitted sheet. I inspected both the sheets and the mattress and couldn’t find any marks that would indicate bed bugs. It’s a brand new mattress (pocket sprung) her bed is next to a wall. I ironed all corners of her mattress to see if more surfaced and they didn’t but now I’m in a real panic.

the bug had 6 legs and was red with a black mark and survived the hoover so I tipped it out and photographed it (it lost its legs in the process)

Help! Thankyou

@LumpyandBumps oh no! Sorry to hear this. Who did you go with and do you know what chemical they are using? When was your last treatment and do you have a guarantee. Lots of companies are happy to come back. Fingers crossed it gets resolved for you.

I used a company called Millenium Pest Control. I don’t think they are a national company. I don’t know the name of the chemical, but they also used steam. They seemed quite thorough.
They didn’t offer a guarantee. They said from the outset it would take at least 2 treatments, and any further ones needed to be paid for.
The problem is we thought the first treatments had worked, and by the time we realised they hadn’t the whole cycle needed to be started again.
I tried using Nope, which came highly recommended. I’ve tried foggers and sticky traps.
In desperation I contacted another company which offered an ultra heat treatment with a full guarantee- for the very reasonable price of £1795! I later found some very poor reviews of that particular company, so am researching another.

That looks very big for a bed bug. They are pernicious little bastards, if you do have them you have my sympathy.

Oh no! I hope you get rid of them. I read heat treatment is a good option but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea if you have floorboards. It is also so expensive. Too much conflicting advice out there! Good luck!
