Neighbour’s plant has damaged my roof

My neighbour had a creeping plant that spread onto a flat roof extension on my side. They’ve cut it down now but I’ve realised that it has damaged my roof and I will now need to replace it. Is it reasonable to ask them to pay or contribute or should I go though my house insurance?

Go through house insurance anyway, and tell them about the neighbours.

I think this is a grey area, might be better to move to legal boards .
You could be seen ' negligent" for not noticing it and "allowing" it to happen

Do you have pictures that would prove it was their plant? Either way, use your insurance, that’s what it’s for.
