I am following someone who appears to be running a dog rescue.
He's messaged me asking for donations.
I donate to a few different animal organisations already but today, he's put something up about having hardly any food left and I want to juat send some money but....?

Is there a way to tell?
I feel silly.
animalsrescue233 is the tiktok name.

Save your money for registered charities. I highly doubt this is one.

I wouldn’t trust anyone messaging people directly asking for donations, sounds like a scam.

If it was a legit rescue they’d have a website or official just giving set up.

Ask him to show you his legitimate website research what is the name of the rescue. You can ask if he’s a charity like some small dog rescues are on Facebook pics etc .

Don’t donate! I am queen of sad animals on TikTok but even to me this sounds dodgy. There’s a cat rescue I follow which is not a registered charity, but they often do Just Giving pages for things and I pop a fiver in - they are always very very clear that people should only give money if they can afford it, and that liking and sharing and interacting with videos to gain traction really helps. They also show receipts for eg vet bills that money’s been raised for, and have a long running Amazon wish list people can buy things like food and litter from.

Thank you all. I just saw the videos and felt so sad.
I'm not rich by any stretch but I'm comfortable enough to spare some money. I just want to make sure it goes to somewhere it should.
