What neutral color paint to match antique silver frames

I have a dark silver color frames and mirror which I love. Don't want to change.
My walls when moved in were grey . However I hate it. Floor is a medium oak color.
I can't afford to change the floor. And only afford to paint the walls. There is a dado rail so again needs to stay. I just want a neutral color.
We rent and landlady has said its OK to paint ans make our own ( she is really great and has recently fit a new bathroom and other large expenses) so we don't mind painting.
It's the paintable wallpaper and I know if we strip it it will take the plaster down. So it purely needs just a freshen , gloss and paint.

I think sage would work with the silver and the wooden floor

Ohh yes hadn't thought of that.

So I'm guessing that the grey seems 'cold', and you want something warmer.

I just had a look at whites on Wickes website, I think something like this would totally transform the room but still be neutral so you can add stronger colours in cushions and curtains and rugs etc.

How much natural light have you got? Are your ceilings particularly high or low? What colour is your sofa and any other pieces of furniture? I think a deep plum would look nice if the room could carry it off. Or a duck egg blue if you wanted something more subtle.
