Are these teeth rotting….? (Dog, not human!)

I have spoken to the owner, numerous times, and the smell is getting quite intense.

Owner thinks it’s age and Denty Sticks will solve it, or help it. Owner is also notoriously dippy. The dog has had teeth out before but the smell is getting worse, it’s like something has died in his mouth. He’s 8.

I am wondering if I need to ramp up the concern as, to me, they look like they’re rotting but I’m a dog boarder not a vet! (Owner also not generally open to any perceived criticism.)

The smell alone would be indicative of a problem, I would think.

I have mentioned the smell, but all that happened was the Denty Sticks were bought.

I thought it best to point out they weren’t human!

Might be gum disease, would the dog have its teeth brushed?

DH is a vet. He says they need a good clean! They are clearly gunked up. Then you'll be able to tell. Obviously hard to tell from a pic.

They don't look awful but they could do with a clean. Dentastix are full of junk and are likely making the problem worse.

No, he doesn’t have his teeth brushed.

Hopefully it’s gunk rather than rotting - I was concerned they were dark due to that.
