Mother telling me what to do

My mother still tells me how to act / what to do at the age of 36. If someone isn't well she will tell me to text them to tell them I'm thinking about them. If I mention something that's gone wrong e.g. bad service, she tells me "you should be phoning them up and telling them XYZ". She also (less frequently) tells me how she thinks I should feel about things.

It's maddening! Anyone else's mother like this?

No.

But only because she's dead. Before that - oh God yes.

Ignore her and have the same really to give each time “ ok, yeah will do.” Then ignore.

I should add MIL tends towards this as well but generally only in relation to parenting. Still infuriating obviously

Sounds like a habit that's stuck.

You don't have to do as you're told though, do you?

I was still being second-guessed into my forties and I'd already had my fill of it at 17. There is a picture of me somewhere batting back the unsolicited opinion, with the help of a very pointy finger!
