Hampshire, Hayling Island pubs for Christmas

We've decided to go to Hayling Island on Christmas day for 2 nights.

We are coming from London and would like to stop at a family pub on the way to our flat for Christmas lunch. Can anyone recommend a nice family pub in the area? Might be a bit late to book for Xmas day but will try.

Doesn't have to be on Hayling Island, anywhere within 15 miles, New Forest/Winchester etc.

Thank you x

The Ship Inn is very nice. Best to pre book in my experience www.shiplangstone.co.uk/

Ah I have lovely memories of sitting outside the ship inn on holidays when I was little! Thanks for the reminder 😊 sorry op totally irrelevant to your thread, but prawn cocktails there in the 90s were amazing 🤩

Pubs that are serving food on Christmas Day are normally for a Christmas dinner usually 3 courses and expensive and booked well in advance.

I know, we are budgeting for that. Can't be more expensive than London 😄.

That's true! just done a quick Google, there's quite a few pubs in that area doing Christmas Day lunches. Hope you manage to get booked in somewhere and have a lovely meal.

The Inn on the Beach in Hayling has the best views and food is good. I’d probably look at places in Emsworth too which isn’t far away. Beautiful place to visit.

Thank you. Sadly The Inn on the Beach is also fully booked for Xmas day but I made a booking for the 26th.

I'll keep looking, will check out Emsworth x

It looks like a lot of pubs aren't actually open for Christmas Day (I've called 4 so far, including an Italian restaurant), that explains why the ones are open are fully booked. I'll keep looking, maybe we get lucky 😀.

I managed to find a really lovely pub with reasonable prices for Christmas day, it's in Surrey though, half way between our house and Hayling Island which is fine! I'm shocked I found anything at all 😀
