Yikes - forgotten friend's birthday: same day present ideas??

Have forgotten a dear friend's birthday - which is today. She is so thoughtful and kind and always remembers my birthday and other special occasions.

Has anyone get any ideas for where I can get a same day delivery present? We both live in London, if that makes any difference.

PS I tried Amazon Prime but it seems it won't do same day delivery to ancillary addresses

Go shopping yourself and take pressie round or use a courier to deliver it to her?

Ineffable23 · 16/11/2024 07:56

Silly question but amongst my friends we'd just buy a present and hang onto it until we next see them? We'd send her a photo/video/message/ring her and then hang onto the prezzie til another time.

Flowers? Spa vouchers or something similar, email the link/text tell her to book a session.

Or go to a shop, buy a gift and go see her.

Homemade voucher or message in a card that says you owe them dinner or a similar treat.

Voucher for an afternoon tea or bottomless brunch that emails you the voucher as soon as you buy it.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 16/11/2024 08:03

pop a card in the door with a spa gift voucher inside?

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 16/11/2024 08:05

I would do same as @flyingant - an IOU for a lovely treat day with her doing something fun together

Can you deliveroo her some fancy chocs / lunch / booze or a deliveroo voucher with a note saying something like 'can't wait to see you and celebrate together'?

Serriadh · 16/11/2024 08:12

What would she like? The ideas for vouchers are good but if she’d prefer something else, just text/phone her today to say happy birthday and explain you messed up posting times and present will be with her next week. If you suspect she’s at a loose end, suggest drinks/coffee today?

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 16/11/2024 08:28

Thank you all for the great suggestions

Don't know why I didn't think of that 🤦‍♀️ . Think I went into 'oh crap - I've forgotten' mode

Thank you - Deliveroo isn't a bad idea

You're right - vouchers aren't really her thing. And. I like the idea of honesty

How about a letterbox flower delivery? I'm thinking like Bloom and Wild. Or maybe a local florist if you pop by now or call them

TiredEyesToday · 16/11/2024 08:34

Also … you’re in London? You can get basically anything delivered the same day? Just place the order and get a courier to collect and deliver from the store, if they don’t do it themselves. Call the store and get them to gift wrap. I’ve done flowers, cakes, cheese hampers, champagne… even books once.

They're next day, earliest

SOLUTION FOUND!

I've found that by changing my Amazon default delivery address to my friend's address, I can use Amazon Prime same day delivery. So I've been able to arrange for a hardback version of a book she's waiting to come out in paperback to be delivered to her along with some of her favourite

Edited: to say thank you again for all your suggestions

Is she too far away to travel to by transport? Like the idea of flowers or a cheeseboard
