Le Creuset

A few pieces caught my eye in JL today, butter dish, tea bag storage, sugar bowl. For having on the kitchen side for everyday use. Can’t decide if to mix and match a couple of colours or stick with one. Any other le creuset fans out there, what did you do? I don’t think I’ll ever progress to the cooking pans. The mugs and espresso cups look cute though. Even the spoon rest..

How many saucepan cupboards do you have?

And are they reinforced?

Mine are a mixture of blue and orange but I’m planning on donating or selling the cast iron pans soon 😭 they’re just too heavy for me, but I’m keeping my salt and pepper shakers and all the various little bits I’ve collected like the mugs and little ramekins.

I have some cast iron saucepans (cerise) and casseroles (blue and grey) and some crockery (cerise, volcanic, blue, green) - they’re all different colours because I just got what was on offer at the time. My cupboards aren’t very colour co-ordinated.

All my Le Creuset pans and casseroles are a beautiful deep indigo blue. Bought from HoF kitchenware sales in the mid 90's. So cheap... the only constraint was how many I could carry home on the bus at once (two at a time!)

Mismatched! I had a volcano mug, black espresso cup. met my partner and he had the opposite colour of each! The. My mum gave us her green small pot that was her own wedding present, then his mother was inspired to give us HER own wedding present (volcano, huge pot). We then got the volcano utensil holder as a gift. Love all the items. I do t have room to display everything at once so different colours are nice to use for different moods :)

The 90s sales were great - my 3 saucepan set was about £90 at the time.

Is Le Creuset really worth upwards off 200 quid for a pan when a non stick tefal is 30???

It was proportionally cheaper in the 90s

I don't think I would buy it now. Lidl, Aldi and Sainsburys all do acceptable dupes. Le Crueset is good, but it is not that good.

There will probably be some on Amazon Black Friday for half price if you are not bothered about which colour, there usually is.

Teflon is bad for your health and I wouldn't use it on a daily basis. We do have one for cooking omelettes and that's it.
