A genuine and personal apology for thinking bad thoughts

I was in IKEA yesterday, looking for their giant Bevara Clip things, found the mixed pack of smaller ones but no long ones on display. Asked an assistant and they looked , then said “ Check when you get to the checkouts, where the food is, we put things in multiple locations.”

“Yeah, right” I thought “by which time I will have walked about thirty miles and won’t have the energy to come back and challenge you.”

Spent the rest of my shop thinking bad thoughts about the assistant binning me off. Eventually got to the checkout.

And there they were.

So I am really sorry for doubting you, I am in awe of your stock availability and location knowledge, and I hope my negative thought waves didn’t reach you.

Wtf?

FiveShelties · 15/11/2024 09:54

It's OK, I knew you would find them at the checkout.

It’s an odd belief system you’ve got there @viques . Honestly nobody is aware or affected by what you think of them. Feel free to let your thoughts run where they please.

Wtf?

OP is laughing at (and gently chiding) herself for (presumably silently, but fairly reasonably) doubting the shop assistant's not very promising sounding suggestion, when it later emerged that the shop assistant had, in fact, been correct, and the item OP required was indeed in the predicted place. She related this occurrence to us in the form of a self-deprecating anecdote, presumably in the hope that it would provide a mild diversion, maybe raise a bit of a smile on a dull morning somewhere, and possibly prompt others to post stories of their own scepticism which turned out to be unwarranted. HTH.

@viques what I want to know is, I keep buying the bigass clips but every time I go to the clip compartment of my kitchen drawers all I can find is pathetic little small clips that don't even clip any more! How many of the biguns have I got to buy for there to be one - ONE! - when I need it? Huh?

I hope you bought lots. You'll need them!

Thankyou, beautifully expressed.

Sending you very positive vibes for a wonderful day, fulfilling weekend and happy life.

Good for you OP!

I would have been the same, brooding all the way round. It’s a bad habit: We sap our own energy succumbing to negativity, but hard to break in difficult times.

Thanks for the reminder!

Yeah, I think you're fairly safe that they didn't.

Not enough eye-rolls in the world...

Slightly off topic, but if anyone else is looking for these, in my IKEA (Bristol) they are also displayed in one of the bins alongside the travelator between the market place and the warehouse! I quite enjoy playing hook-a-duck with them and the washing up brushes as I glide down beside my magically affixed trolley .

WildFigs · 15/11/2024 10:23

I am obsessed with these clips.

Edited

You know, I used to work in IKEA and I honestly think that magical travelator is the best thing about it Grin although, my niece once got on it with clearly weird shoes on and found out too late that she had absolutely no grip. Ended up going down clinging onto the side for dear life the whole way. Good job my trolley didn't budge as I was clinging onto it from laughing too much!

TwattyMcFuckFace · 15/11/2024 10:33

Why would you go back and 'challenge' the shop assistant anyway?

They did nothing wrong 😳

Nikitaspearlearring · 15/11/2024 10:49

I think it's very kind of you to want to make amends. I hope the assistant sees/ hears about this post, and that you now find inner peace, OP ✌️😀

Yeah, I don't get it.

What don't you get? Someone coming to the chat board to chat about something?
