Any idea what this might be on DS' leg?

The red patch on his calf appeared yesterday and he has been scratching it. The slightly raised spots have been there for about a year, assumed molloscum or something. But I'm not sure about the red patch and itchiness that has now started.

I will take him to the pharmacy after school but any ideas before would be great as I Don't imagine they will be too helpful.

Thanks @stayathomegardener that does seem like it. He has a couple of red pimples higher up on his leg too, could it be it spreading? Can it start as a pimple then spread?

The patch did seem to appear like this overnight though.

It does spread and is a bugger to get rid of with topicals alone once established.
Your pharmacist should be able to recognise it and start immediate over the counter treatment.
Do you have pets?
Would need to treat the house by boil washing bedding/towels.
