Really worried Mole on my face

Hi

does anyone have experience with these type of moles? I have a mole on my face, on my chin. It is raised, light pink with a small brown patch in the middle of it, it feels really hard to touch. I’m worried it’s melanoma, I have booked in to see a nurse in 2 weeks time at my doctors surgery. Does anyone have a mole like this? There’s no scabbing or bleeding it’s just a raised hard lump.

Arent doctors seeing people for this anymore?

Reallyworried9 · 13/11/2024 18:40

The surgery would only book me in with the nurse I did tell the receptionist why I needed an appointment.

Well thats a bit rubbish. As for the mole I'd just be googling pictures for answers

I had a patch of skin on my face that I went to a local skin clinic about as our GP surgery doesn't deal with this anymore. They diagnosed it as sebhorrheic keratosis and I had treatment with a plasma pen. It was uncomfortable rather than painful but I've had brilliant results from it. Cost me £90.

I had one like that on the edge of my jaw that got a bit inflamed every now and then. GP sent me to hospital to get it excised. They did it with a punch biopsy tool (local anaesthetic, didn’t feel a thing) and put in a couple of tiny stitches and I was away home.

One note of caution - if you are in for similar make sure someone goes with you to bring you home. I went on my own and was a bit confused afterwards, got on the wrong train and needed assistance from platform staff to find the right one. Then stayed on the phone to my son the whole way back to my station as I felt so was going to fall asleep and end up in the depths of the countryside!

They tested it and it was benign anyway.
best wishes xx

I can’t find any photos online that match what I have on my face

Could you upload a photo?
My daughter had a similar thing on her hand for months. It was very firm to touch and it turned out to be a type of wart. The doctor said that if she kept touching and fiddling with it then it would encourage her immune system to get rid of it, and it did.
I had something similar on my chest a few years later and it felt rock hard, wasn’t itchy and there for months. I took the tip that was given to my daughter and fiddled with it and the same thing happened, it eventually vanished. So don’t worry too much yet.
Have you always had it and it’s changed? Or has it suddenly appeared like ours did?

There's literally photos of everything on the internet.

This is the mole/ hard lump
it hasn’t felt as hard as it does now if that makes sense

Sorry it’s not a clear enough image

It looks very much like the one that appeared on my chest. To me it looks like it’s come up and raised a mole up with it and that might be what the brown spot is on it.
If it’s always been raised up like that though, then it might be something else though.

Reallyworried9 · 13/11/2024 19:01

It was slightly raised just a little bit now it feels slightly different.

Looks more like a boil or a cyst. Agree with PP saying the brown part is existing mole or freckle.

Reallyworried9 · 13/11/2024 19:04

It’s putting my mind at ease thanks everybody I’m hoping I get some answers in 2 weeks

I was sent to have a mole taken out which Drs surgery wasn’t sure about as it was unusual looking. It was fine . I worried about checking it out for ages and wish I had done it sooner and had my mind put at rest. You are doing the right thing and hopefully you mind too will be put at rest

Abs8 · 13/11/2024 21:46

I have a similar one under my eye. Pink, raised, hard, but with a dark bit in the middle which looks like a freckle. I got it checked in Boots through their mole check service and they said it was fine.
