Just CBA with work anymore...

Have spent the last hour calculating when I can retire and it seems I'm stuck until I'm at least 66 which is 10 more years 😩.

I really cannot be bothered to do my office job any more, have been in the same role for years, passed over for promotion and completely demotivated.

Can't stand all the bullshit, the new ways of working that are just recycled every 5 years or so and having to be polite to people when I feel anything but. Also sick of being a reliable employee!

Menopausal life crisis or just normal?

Another 53 year old here who can't imagine working for a further 14 years even though I enjoy my job. It's interesting, fairly well paid and I work from home but it exhausts me some days. A couple of my old pensions kick in at 60 so I'll probably drop a day or two at that point. I'm aware I'm in a relatively fortunate position, some people won't even be able to retire at 67 as they'll still have mortgage or rent to pay.

Oh this is so so true. The organisation I work for reinvents the wheel every 5 years and with it an entire restructure takes place and all the rehashed new ideas get a new name, a new lead, a new load of waffle to sell it to us all.
Nothing, nothing, nothing about what we do needs doing differently. It just needs money to be spent on the workforce instead of the up top 'ideas' people that are just trying to invent themselves some importance and keep themselves in a high paid job.

You really see the bullshit of it all as you get older, and once you see it you can't unsee it, no matter how many 'wellbeing' initiatives they create.

Can't wait to leave the circus and all the monkeys behind.

I’m in the same position, 57 and CBA with working any more. I just want to stay home and walk my dog and potter. I’ve worked FT since I was 16. I’m done. I hate hate the fact that retirement has been changed to 67. Who wants to work until then!

Also worked since I was 16 but did take a career break in my 20s to do a degree. It was the most enjoyable time of my life hence me thinking about a masters. Looking back it was a time of freedom, no kids, no job to worry about.
I was just talking to my daughter about the retirement age moving to 67 and telling her when I started work it was 60.

Joining and I’m only 46! I just bloody hate the bullshit! And how you have to jump through hoops for a measly bonus

We don't even get bonuses and next year probably not even a pay rise.

I’m with you OP. I’m in IT and a sorry at 59 I am fed up of crawling under the desks of 20somethings. It’s embarrassing to crawl up to actually stand up

Oh blimey I couldn't do that! One of my knees is knackered and I can't put any pressure on it at all.
Your back must take some punishment doing your job.
