Yes it works fine. Used to have to do this all the time when we lived rurally and the internet didn't always work.

Yes, I always sit out in my car in a quiet spot and place the phone on my hands free holder.
Much prefer this way to be honest.

The only issue you could have is if they share a lot of slides, especially if they're poorly designed with dense text.

Yeah it works fine - would second to make sure you've got charge, and it's also quite obvious that you're on your phone, so you might want to reference it at the start if it'd be an unusual call to join that way.

If they're going to share slides, they're typically hard to see on mobile, which is a bit of a pain; and you'll likely need to be hot on muting/unmuting, as phones aren't as good at blocking noise out.

Download or open Zoom in advance, incase there's updates you need to do before you can join.

Test it. A very basic zoom log in is free and you can have 40 minute meetings for free. Practice unmuting if you're going to need to do that. That's the thing people struggle with.
