Cardiff Hospital/UHW - anyone given birth there/work there?

There’s a possibility might have to be there last minute/unexpectedly. What’s the consultant led delivery set up like? Is there an option to pay for a private room if there’s availability medically ok?

Or is everyone there on postnatal ward hell if you have to stay in? Or is it a modern set up with everyone private rooms? Do they kick partners out or allow them to stay and help if you need help if in a single room?

Had both kids there. Some brilliant staff but the facilities are grim. No chance of a private room unless you are in a bad way and separated from baby. Partners were allowed to overnight on the ward but that has pros and cons.

But NICU is absolutely phenomenal (but that’s not a facility you want to need)

Thanks for the heads up! Good to go into it forewarned if we end up there. Their website seems shit and I can’t find any information about the wards/visiting. Unless it’s me!
