Any dentists on here? Cusp missing since I got filling

Hi, I recently got a filling in one of my teeth. It has been very sensitive and bothering me ever since so I took a closer look at it and realised that one of the front cusps looks missing.
It has never been chipped so I think the dentist may have filed it down as she did a lot of filing when she was asking me to bite down.

I’ve gone back in, asked for an after X-ray to compare the before and after. I’m not sure based on the quick look I had at the X-ray. Dentist mentioned she would I fix the filling and if I wanted build a cusp with the filling.

Tbh this all sounds bonkers to me and I want my tooth back. What do I do?

I don't think you can have your tooth back. Once it's gone it's gone. Or has the filling just filled the tooth up?

Just thought I'd bump your thread though.

well the dentist mentioned getting a ceramic crown in my review session. But… that was not mentioned when I was originally planning the dental work. The filling was a replacement for an old one.

I have the before and after X-rays so I’d like to get an opinion on whether my tooth was indeed filed down. I notice it when I’m chewing a lot. It feels quite different
