Over the last few months I’ve read and seen many accounts of women whose reproductive rights have been reduced in certain states.
I’ve also seen and read accounts that state that this is untrue, that women can access abortion when their lives or long term health are at stake (not that this makes the state by state decision to overturn Roe v Wade any easier to understand).
In this day and age it’s very difficult to find information that is reliable and to know 100% what is true and what isn’t true.
I’m in the middle of a friendship divide where some worship at the feet of St Trump the Orange, others think Harris is the best thing since sliced bread, and then others (including me) who feel that most politicians are currently corrupt and not worth a light, but that Kamala is possibly the safer bet right now.
The Trumpists are vicious in their arguments, which is off putting, and the friendship group may have died a death after nearly twenty years because of this.
How are Trump fans so sure that everything he and his chums say is factual? They seem so rabidly devoted and unquestioning, so much that it almost looks cult like.
Knowing my friends I can’t say they’re thick and racist, because they’re simply not. It’s like they’ve been captured and brainwashed, but that then makes me question whether I’m missing something!
I’m also told on the one hand that Trump set the ball rolling for this, and to expect worse in the coming months/years. I’m also told that it happened under Biden’s watch so nothing to do with Trumpy at all, but he doesn’t give a rat’s arse about women’s rights so to expect worse over the coming months/years. (Just to be clear I mean the overturning of Roe v Wade here)
Any recommendations of articles? Links? I want to know enough to build up a better, non-SM swayed opinion of it all and I don’t know where to start.
