Share foods you think are overrated or just don't like (or defend your favourites!).

Overrated imo:
salted caramel,
ruby chocolate,
.....apple crumble.

MiddleAgedDread · 09/11/2024 18:04

Krispy Kreme donuts - when the first one opened locally there were queues of traffic and congestion for miles!!

KnopkaPixie · 09/11/2024 18:04

Utter pleb here:

Bananas.
Avocado.
Oysters.
Okra.
Chia seed porridge thing.

I just don't do any kind of slimy. Stop sniggering at the back! My meaning is perfectly clear. I am talking as a source of primary nourishment.

Attelina · 09/11/2024 18:05

Cucumber, it ruins everything it touches.

Tutorpuzzle · 09/11/2024 18:06

Shellfish (all of the buggers). Special knives, napkins, finger bowls. Oh, and watch out for the grit and try not to worry about the potential for food poisoning. All for a tiny bit of rubbery gristle.

AdaColeman · 09/11/2024 18:06

Cherry tomatoes, the ratio of skin to flesh is all wrong, there is just too much skin.

Streaky bacon, too fatty.

TheDandyLion · 09/11/2024 18:07

Yorkshire puddings. Waste of plate real estate.

KnopkaPixie · 09/11/2024 18:07

Bubble tea.

Shhhthedogssleeping · 09/11/2024 18:07

I'm pleased you felt able to let all that out 😂

@MiddleAgedDread Krispy Kreme donuts, definitely - far too sickly! The whole point of proper doughnuts is the slightly tart raspberry jam contrasting with the sweet doughnut.
Bubble tea (I know, it's a drink)
Bananas
Meringues
Blonde chocolate/blondies

I don't have a very sweet tooth!

LostittoBostik · 09/11/2024 18:10

Sliced tomatoes. Will accept whole cherry tomatoes in salads etc, especially if they are very crisp. But sliced buffalo tomatoes make me heave. They destroy entire sandwiches with their taint.

When I started the thread I didn't see this coming. I don't think I can take it 😧

Mine was going to be ‘Yorkshire puddings on Christmas dinner or indeed any roast except beef’ but I fear I might push you over the edge…

Isitfridayyetsophie · 09/11/2024 18:13

truffle flavour anything
salted caramel

they were fine at first but now I’m sick of them!

Tutorpuzzle · 09/11/2024 18:13

Yep, your thread has proved very cathartic!! Thank you😊

AceOfCups · 09/11/2024 18:14

Red velvet cake

just tastes of sugar and nothing else

mbosnz · 09/11/2024 18:15

Ha! I'm not the only one that feels like that about yorkshire puddings!!

FuckMeUpFlorida · 09/11/2024 18:15

Panettone. Perhaps I need to try a bigger variety?
Salted Caramel (who wants chunks of salt with their sweet things?)
Bubble Tea - I don't understand what this is actually.
