Gift for friend who is moving away?

A neighbour and friend of mine is moving back to the states with her little girl who will be 8 months old. We had our daughters two days apart and have grown so close since the babies were born. The babies spend lots of time together and we got each other through the tough early weeks of motherhood and breastfeeding. I’m feeling pretty emotional that she’s leaving despite only being friends for a short while!

I’m looking for ideas for a leaving gift for her and her daughter please. The babies were each others very first friends so maybe some sort of keepsake in that respect? Perhaps some sort of breastfeeding keepsake as she really struggled for the first few months but has done amazing at keeping going?

I think a breastfeeding keepsake is very personal and not to everyone’s taste (I had a very similar journey and I would not want one).

What about a personalised book for her dd? When we moved away from a friend, I got a book for her dd that was a story about friendship with her dd and my ds’s names in it? I couldn’t remember the company now, but if you google, you’ll find similar. It was a very sweet story.

For her, I’d get something that reminds her of the UK. It will be a big change and it would be nice to have a memory of her time here.

@mindutopia thanks for the ideas, they sound great. My friend hated BF to start with so maybe wouldn’t want a keepsake!
