Trustpilot - Fake Reviews? (Manicista)

Ok, I admit, I was sucked in by a Facebook advert.

A gel manicure set thing ("Manicista"), £30.

It has been delivered this evening. I am working night shift so won't see it until I get home this evening.

Have just had a look on Trustpilot (yes, I should have done it before).

Anyway, reviewes aren't great, average score of 2.9 out of 5.

But here is my issue.....

There are some good reviews (4 or 5 stars). And where it tells you how many reviews that person has given, it's generally two.

So I click on their name, to see what their other review was for and what they said.

And each persons other review was on either the 6th, 7th, or 8th February 2022.

At first I thought it was a coincidence but it's obviously not.

How is this possible?

I'm guessing these are fake reviews from fake profiles?

That annoys me so much. So you basically can't even trust reviews?

What's the point of Trustpilot if people can just buy reviews or whatever?

I feel like the world is just full of people peddling their shitty wares and putting out fake reviews about how great it is in order to scam people.

Why not channel their energy into actually just making a good product?

Frustrating.

Link below if anybody wants to take a look.

Looking at these reviews, I'm guessing what happens is that these people give reviews in return for something, I'm guessing money?

So I'm guessing in February 2022 this company offered an incentive to give them a good review, and that's what these people have done.

Having looked at the other reviews they have left, it is mostly bullshit. "I can highly recommend this company for getting me back lost crypto assets" was one Hmm

So Trustpilot is bullshit then?

Very disappointed.

....not sure why my follow up post has been hidden?

Very odd.

I’ve given reviews on Trust pilot, to companies that have carried out work for me, l had to verify my review through email, before explaining what my experience was and l have been asked whether l was asked to give a review, which l answered truthfully. The reviews were for electrical work, removal company, basically small businesses. So that’s been my experience with Trust pilot.
But yes, l do think some reviews would be incentivised, with clothing shops l’ve been asked to give a review for a discount.

Years ago I got given a freebie to leave a positive Trust Pilot review. I didn’t know it was against their terms and conditions. The company got reported then anyone who left a review had to provide a proof of purchase. So if you think they’re fake definitely report them.

I know better now!

There are lots of negative reviews.

But the positive ones just don't ring true, so I think there is something going on.

One of them describes the "beautiful website" Hmm and, as I say, the people who have left these positive reviews have generally only reviewed one other company.....and they all seemed to do it on 6th, 7th or 8th February 2022.

Definitely something fishy going on.

I will have a look at how to report to Trustpilot because I'm really annoyed.

Me, and my elderly parents, set a lot of store by reviews. They always read reviews before purchasing anything and I'm pissed off that a lot of these are fake or written by bots or something.
