It's 5th November, and I have seen a single one. Or anyone wearing one..

Stalls set out at both school and nursery today. Sainsbury’s, co-op, corner shop too.

MiddleAgedDread · 05/11/2024 20:58

Sainsbury’s is the only place I’ve seen them.

Octavia64 · 05/11/2024 20:59

In my co-op

Cascais · 05/11/2024 20:59

Charing Cross station

GrumpyCactus · 05/11/2024 21:00

They are everywhere here. We've got them in every local supermarket, there's a stall in the market. We've had them being sold at school and they were at a sporting event we attended at the weekend.

Nameinspirationneeded · 05/11/2024 21:03

Sainsbury’s, my local shopping centre. I don’t think at football grounds as fans were wearing them during match of the day (and there was remembrance on the pitch).

RampantIvy · 05/11/2024 21:03

Stations, entrances to supermarkets, craft fairs.

Ifailed · 05/11/2024 21:05

Train station, pubs, Sainsbury's, stalls in shopping arcade. You can always give on line, don't need a poppy to that.

Local supermarket has the boxes of poppies but the Poppy station is unstaffed. The lady who had been doing it for the last decade or so was very old so I wonder if she has passed on.

I think fewer people will be buying them and partaking in remembrance day now. Everyone that fought in WW1 and 2 have passed away now. I used to do Remembrance service as a teen in cadets and there were lots of former military in attendance with their medals standing or in wheelchairs due to age and lots of others, now it's just cadet groups, scouts and the clergy. Modern wars and conflict no matter how tragic are a choice to go as no one is conscripting you in to the UK forces now. Remembering a war so it never happens again is all well and good apart from the fact ofcourse there is war and conflict all over the world as we speak.

We are volunteers. We do as many hours as we can.
You can donate on line or become a volunteer yourself.

waltzingparrot · 05/11/2024 21:26

We've had them where I work for over 3 weeks now but hardly anybody has donated - I hope they are all donating on the RBL website.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/11/2024 21:26

At my front door while I’m trying to change nappies. At DD’s school - I’m haemorrhaging pound coins for slap bands and assorted crap. At the local shop.

DreamW3aver · 05/11/2024 21:33

In multiple supermarkets near me

soundsys · 05/11/2024 21:44

They must all be near me! In the supermarket, outside the supermarket. In the station, at the bus stop... everywhere. (I mean, I don't have any issue with them I just really noticed there are more near me than usual!)

ThePoshUns · 05/11/2024 21:44

In Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer here

Werecat · 05/11/2024 21:45

Sainsbury’s is where I’ve seen them.

ThePinkFrenchFancyPlease · 05/11/2024 21:47

We’ve had two doorstep collectors and a chap from the local branch of the Legion has a stall inside our little Tesco. They normally also collect under our market house for a few days. Oh, and there’s an unmanned box in the Post Office. I’m just in a small market town.

Bodeganights · 05/11/2024 21:47

In two motorway services on way home on Saturday. One I think was unmanned. Havent seen any others, but also not been far. Theres always online, or others like clogau do poppy badges too.

ForPearlViper · 05/11/2024 21:49

In every single supermarket in my area in the last two weeks and also in the market square. Maybe you don't have enough volunteers in your area.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 05/11/2024 21:50

I did find someone in the supermarket. Now I need to buy a poppy by Sunday I’m not sure where to go locally. I’m going to try to co-op locally and see if I can track one down.

herbygarden · 05/11/2024 21:50

I have seen a few, multiple ones in one big shopping centre including a huge one selling greeting cards etc

Twistybranch · 05/11/2024 21:52

Morrisons

BlueEyedLeucy · 05/11/2024 21:53

Sainsburys and Asda so far. Haven’t seen many folk wearing them but then I haven’t since I was in school where you were to all intents and purposes ‘obliged’ to wear it.
