Shutter blinds, are they worth the money?

I like the way they look but how good are they at keeping out the light? I am thinking of having them at the front of our new bungalow so will be on mine and my 4 year old's bedroom windows and I wondered how good they are at light/sound insulation?

They are excellent at keeping out light- I don't find that they make any real difference to noise..

I love ours- they are a lovely alternative to curtains/blinds.

They are good in that they look quite neat, and don’t take up space on the floor like curtains might, but we found that ours did let in a little light through the slats.

Also, some people will think they are going / have gone out of fashion, so be sure you like them and are happy to have them for years as (at least when we got ours) they were quite expensive.

We’ve moved now and don’t have any these days.

They're so good at keeping it the light that they make houses very dark. I'd go for cafe blinds or Roman blinds over them

We have them and it’s dark when they are fully closed but when tilted open, they let in more light than the Venetian blinds that were there before. Due to the slats being much wider apart, the light seems to bounce off them more. We have the type where you can open the top independently to the bottom which is really helpful. We are in a Victorian house with bay windows so they look nice. I don’t think they suit all types of homes though, def wouldn’t have suited our 50’s bungalow with huge wide windows. And I wouldn’t want them if there was a nice view from the window, but our road view is quite ugly so I’m not bothered about that.
