Is it suitable for young teens? My DS is 13, loves history and wants some meaty podcasts, but I can't find any kind of age rating.

I don't think there would be anything particularly problematic, unless he is very sensitive or squeamish. Obviously they talk about sex and death and violence, but not in any gratuitous way. Similar to a history documentary on BBC tv or something. Listen to a couple of episodes if you're not sure.

It's really good by the way, so I would just generally recommend listening!

I can’t think of anything unsuitable from the ones I’ve listened to. It’s a great podcast.

I'd say so, yes. The News Agents podcast is also good if he's interested in current affairs/politics. There's also The Rest Is History, if he would enjoy that.

I think it’s great- in my experience perfectly suitable!

Oh sorry I misread and thought it was The Rest is Politics in your original one! Apologies. Yes, it's a great podcast!

It’s a great podcast and if there are grislier/sexual elements they tend to mention it at the outset. I’m glad however I didn’t listen to the boarding school episodes with DC.

It's fine, my 12yo listens. There are a few rude-ish bits but he'll have heard worse from the Y11s in the school toilets.

cariadlet · 04/11/2024 22:35

Yes.

I would actually say it's fine for children a couple of years younger than that if it's the sort of thing they would be interested in (I recommended it to my friend for her son who is in Year 5 and he loves it).

Fantastic! Thank you 🙏🏻

Yes but not the slavery episodes. To be fair they give warnings about it but it’s genuinely very disturbing and I wished I hadn’t listened to it. Also some of the Aztec series were really dark. It’s generally fine though.
