Baby rear view head rest mirrors or a camera

Looking to get a rear view head rest mirror, any recommendations? Or Facebook keeps advertising me a camera, wondering if that’s legal or not/similar vein to looking at a satnav?

Bump. Also made myself smile saying that!

I like the Diono ones and they are also crash tested. 😊 I'm not sure but is there anything a camera offers that a mirror does not?

lochmaree · 05/11/2024 20:03

(apart from potential technical issues and so then a distraction)

I had the extra mirror when they were very small but it got a bit annoying after a while.

Honestly…. I wouldn’t spend too much. They grow so fast.

I always had a basic mirror but it’s not long before they are kicking it out of position and it’s all just a waste of time and a bit of a fiddle. 😣 And they are making noise and fidgeting around anyway, so you know they are ok.

Exactly this! They’re useful but only really for a relatively short time.

Even if they are only useful for 3months, I’m happy with the cost/benefit ratio that it is still worth it for me 🙂 And will pass it along/charity shop afterwards

Neither, you need to be concentrating on the road.

Thanks for that @HammeredMetallic im sure all the parents with a mirror and a quick glance at their baby are less likely to crash than one who can’t see their baby and is distressed and distracted or worse tries to reach or look. We all say we wouldn’t do that but who knows in that instance what you would do.

Well we just bought a cheapy "hang over the back seat headrest" mirror from Amazon for £10. Am I missing something? What does the camera do?

anyway, DS is almost 3 and rear facing so we still have it up, and it's in use everytime we're in the car

HammeredMetallic · 18/11/2024 11:48

Thanks @GoingRoundInOvals thats what we did as well, bought a mirror one.
