Clothes but in a couple of sizes up, like 3-6 or 6-9 months. They'll probably get a lot of newborn and 0-3 month clothes.

Baby sleeping bags are really useful and the sort of thing it's good to have extras of (in case they puke on them in the middle of the night for example).

A hand warmer for the pram

Cook vouchers for the parents. Anything to make their lives easier because it’s going to be a blur for the next few months.

Clothes in the next size up often get forgotten about.

Nice cot blanket or shawl perhaps? Or baby clothes.

I bought for my own twins before birth tiny baby clothes for 5 pounders as I thought they would come very early. Instead they were my latest children of all and born at 40 weeks to the exact day (late for twins) - 6 pounds 7 oz and 7 pounds 8 oz like two normal single babies. We could hardly stretch the tiny clothes over them so that was quite funny and had to get bigger sizes.

Some lovely big muslins:)

Bibado bibs, they're brilliant but pricey when you need 2 x sets

minipie · 04/11/2024 13:52

YY Cook vouchers or similar

Baby stuff is tricky to recommend as it varies from child to child.

For example we had a plastic musical cot mobile which was a godsend as it bought me time to shower. However she hated the swing which other babies apparently love.

Jumperoo was fantastic when babies were older but that’s several months off (and bulky to store) so don’t get it now!

Tuppence and Crumble star wraps are good for an autumn baby as they are easy to put on and off unlike some pram suits

For the last pair of twins I made a picnic blanket quilt (waterproof backing), put it in a basket and added a set of plastic plates and baby cutlery.
Nice big bibs with elastic necks are cheap, cute and will be used for years.
Tuppence and Crumble star wrap was for a special friend’s baby.
