I’m wanting to improve my physical and mental health. I’m a sahp, youngest has started school, oldest has some SEN with sleeping issues, youngest is waking a lot over the last two weeks as asthma has been triggered by colds and I also having caring responsibilities. In theory I should have more time for myself now but I don’t always do that. I’m over weight as a result of snacking on sugary stuff, I need to lose weight, exercise more, my sleep in a mess, waking up during the night and can’t get back to sleep and some times I’m so tired I go to bed with the kids. I spend far too much time on MN, looking at new houses on rightmove or holidays. My relationship with my husband could do with some more effort.

I try every week but I can’t maintain changes. Where would you start and what would you change?

Make positive changes one at a time till they become a habit. Maybe start with cutting down sugar and replacing with healthier snacks and some east walking each day.

I think you’re right with one change at time. I think my sugar habit needs to first. I don’t even need snacks but I’m not hungry, it’s just a poor way of dealing with stress and tiredness.

I normally do 15 to 20k steps a day and swim a couple of times a week in term time.
