Awake! Daughter has lost phone and its stressing me out

I don’t ever sleep well really. But this is playing on my mind. So pls be kind!

Daughter (15) went to a friends party on Halloween. She couldn’t find her phone when I collected her (she had an hours notice) the Find my IPhone says it is there. The mum and daughter have told me they’ve searched the house, and can’t find it. She’s a nice girl and I’ve spoken to the mum a fair bit in the past. No reason to suggest anything dodgy has gone on.

I feel I am going to have to ask if DD can pop in and have a look herself. I’m pretty sure the mum will invite me to look also. Obviously I will accept this. It’s just unbelievably irritating and worrying really. As it’s not like I can just get her another one.

I have no idea why I posted this. Purely to try and get it out of my head so I can switch off and sleep!!

Using the find my iPhone feature you can make the phone sound an alarm which should make it easier to find. It works even if the phone is on silent

good luck

Yeah, you’re going to have to visit them, show them the up to date find my iPhone location and ask to look. Might be in the garden or down the side of a sofa cushion etc.

Wont the battery have died though? Does find my iPhone still work of battery dead?

AwakeNotThruChoice · 03/11/2024 04:57

Thanks :)

Battery had died now. As the find my iPhone says a few hours ago.

I guess I wonder how well they have looked, not every one is good at searching for things. I’ll just feel awkward looking in someone else’s house !

@Nomaj yes we have discovered this ! Unfortunately too late though. Unless it works when phone is of!

Tbh I assumed the mum would have found it. She said she was going to tidy the house this afternoon so we all guessed it while turn up then.

I've lost my phone in my own house multiple times and it's always been in really stupid places and not found despite turning the place upside down. Always on silent too...

In a shoe in the shoe rack (more than once)
In the tiny gap between the washing machine and work surface (only found when an alarm went off)
Upside down on top of the air fryer (black on black and virtually invisible)

It'll turn up but may not be somewhere immediately obvious!

AwakeNotThruChoice · 03/11/2024 05:09

@ReadingInTheRain583 i totally get what you’re saying. And you’re probably right!

I am hoping one of us locates it.

I think it shows the last location so I would go round there today with your phone and because it wouldn't have moved, hopefully you should find it.

I think the Find My alarm works when the battery is flat.

The mum let me in to look for it. I felt awful going through the house. It was an awkward situation.

she wouldn’t let me upstairs which was frustrating. Kept saying it was a tip.

Anyway eventually it was found on the top of a very high wardrobe in a downstairs bedroom my DD had not been In (as it was an older siblings)
No idea why. Glad we have it. I was there 45 mins.

Good news although I’d be a bit sus about where it was found.
