Do you know anyone who wrote to Points of View (BBC)?

Remember that show that would be on for about 10 minutes on a Sunday where viewers of the BBC wrote or phoned to praise/complain about tv shows?

There were always people up in arms about things, read out by a faceless actor.

“I tuned in on Tuesday night to watch the final part of the thrilling new drama, Ashes To Ashes, only to see that it has been postponed because of the World Cup. What was shaping up to be a fantastic conclusion is in limbo now! Sort it out, Beeb!

Gwen, Wiltshire”

Were these real people? Do you know one of them? I had a very distinct image of someone who’d write to PoV when I was younger.

I got a letter read on there once. It was sent as a joke though!
I only ever sent the one letter

I wrote to the Central TV (ITV) version when I was 10. It was a segment as part of the evening news programme I think.
They phoned my mum to ask for a photo of me because they were going to read it out but I never did see it 😭.
Central TV was divided into 3 regions for the news programme - it was possibly shown on the one that wasn't ours.

Yes a friend of mine sent a letter when we were 16. It was read out (and rather mocked by the presenter).

My FIL wrote into PoV on behalf of DH (he was a small child). It was read out on the show and now features in the extras of a Dr Who dvd, which we naturally have a copy of!

I think Points of View is still going! I think it’s on Sunday afternoons still but maybe shorter and not every week..?

anyone who wrote in to POV but didn't have at least one mention of 'why oh why oh why...' in said letter is a disappointment to me.

I wrote in 1990s about a radio show that was definitely not as good as the one it had replaced. It was read out along with two or three others that agreed with me.

I did not write "why, oh why, oh why"

A girl at school had her letter featured about an episode of Pingu where he’d pooed on the floor. I might be misremembering this slighty btw but it was definitely Pingu and she found something he had done egregious!

We still joke about writing to Barry Took 🤣
