Where do you want to go on holiday and why?

I’m fast realising that I don’t enjoy sun holidays with my children as I hate swimming and having two small kids means it’s unavoidable, I have to take my turn.

I hear people say they want to go here on holiday because of X but I just have no inspiration of where to go myself or what I want to see or do.

So can you please share your holiday wishes and the reasons why to help inspire me?

I never swam with my dc on holidays. My dh loves that, likes to be moving around. So he covered that. I make no apologies as l do so much other stuff. He did the crazy slides in the water parks etc. So we loved Majorca, French and Spanish campsites, and as they got older cities like Rome, Barcelona and Paris. Ours did llike historic stuff and football stadiums!! Its difficult to have a warm weather holiday without water, l feel.
But you could do Disney.

How old are your kids? That will have a bearing on where you go and what they enjoy. That stage passes quickly though. When mine were little they enjoyed a city break but we spent a LOT of time in playgrounds and kid-friendly museums and attractions in Paris, Brussels, Malaga etc.

Now mine are tweens, places I would love to go (Money no object):

Countryside of Japan - hot springs, traditional country inns etc

Sri Lanka - beaches, culture

Horse trekking in Central Asia and seeing the Silk Road

More realistic:

Walking in the Alps

Cycling in the Highlands

City breaks in Central Europe and the balkans

God, I hate getting in the pool with the kids but I do enjoy a sun holiday, sitting by the pool with a good book and a cocktail! That's why my husband is useful 😅 he can't sit still!

But other than that with the kids we've done Florida, West Coast America, Italy lakes and city breaks..

We have 6 and a 4 year old girls. We’ve done Disneyland, we’ve done Duinrell. Probably going to do effeling next year for them but looking for something a bit different as our main holiday.

@CandiedPrincess this is my problem exactly, I love sitting by the pool with a cocktail My husband will do more than his fair share of being in the pool but I feel bad as he likes to relax as well and he does ask me to take a turn.
