NHS right to choose Autism assessment fee

I know that the NHS funds the assessment if you go this route so there is no fee for the patient. Does anyone know how much the NHS pays the provider for doing the assessment? I can’t seem to find anything about it online. Thanks

I think they've done a procurement exercise on providers (ensuring reputable assessments) and fund the providers.

Thanks. I just wondered what they pay them and how it compares to the fee for directly going private, which can be up to 2k.

Under NHS Right to Choose, autism assessments are free for patients with no direct fees. Providers are reimbursed through agreed NHS contract rates, though exact amounts aren’t published. These payments are structured like staff salaries, aligned with NHS pay bands for fairness.

The answer will vary depending where you are in the country. Each CCG will have procured the service independently.

If you really want to know you should be able to find out if you submit a FoI request to your local CCG.

Where I am the same assessment that can cost you £2k will cost the NHS double & so GPs gatekeep the hell out of them and only give them to children with the most severe symptoms.

But I’ve been told that in other areas the NHS pays a lot less.
