Civil partnerships - How many?

After the budget, it got me to thinking about how many people I know who are straight couples who are civil partners, rather than married. I know many couples who have been together long term but remain legally unmarried/civil partnered, and married couples, but I don’t think I personally know of any heterosexual civil partnerships in my social groups.

How many people do you know of who are in an opposite sex civil partnership?

(Non judgemental, I’m actually considering it for myself.)

I know two couples.

Almost a third but they ended up getting married instead.

None that I'm aware of, but I do know committed couples who aren't married, and it's entirely possible that some of them have civil partnerships that they haven't made a big deal of.

Have you done anything about it, yet, OP? I know of three couples after the budget who have set dates. It's 10 min signing slot apparently.

Myself and my partner are the only ones I know of, but we don't generally tell people (or wear rings and we both kept our names) and had been together 20 years by the time we did it, so it's entirely possible we know others in the same position.

I know a couple who didn't want to get married so waited till civil partnership was available for straight couples and did it then. And a few others who are married but would have preferred to be civil partners if that had been a thing at the time. Also know some couples in France who are PACsed rather than married.

None.

Though as a pp pointed out, there are some people who either marry or have a CP for purely legal reasons and don't make it public, so not impossible anyone posting on this thread knows more than they think.

Straight CP is rather uncommon, the ONS figures bear that out, but if it's right for you then go for it.
