City centre????
There are plenty of car parks if you google. Obviously you pay accordingly.
Roads near the city centre tend to be restricted (time wise).
There are some roads in Wincheap that are unrestricted but this involves a walk & the luck of finding a space.

Castle street carpark 🏰 or watling street carpark

Thanks, I've never been before so was hoping to glean some knowledge about it because places like Brighton for instance are hellish to park.

If there are several of you, and/ or you're going for several hours, consider the park & rides. Otherwise, it depends on what end of town you want, and when in the day, as some are more 'tourist' and others 'workers, but as you drive into town there are boards that tell you how many spaces are available in nearby car parks.

I dont go a lot, but park and ride or the car park near the Goods Shed. Probably horribly expensive. Its all I see on the local news - cost of parking in Canterbury.

Oh it’s much MUCH easier than Brighton.
Work in Canterbury. Child at uni in Brighton.
Brighton is a bloody nightmare for parking.
Canterbury gets busy at the usual times but otherwise it’s a much calmer and civilised experience entirely!

Wonderful. You never know what your going into.
We want the cathedral and I'm assuming the beautiful old part is also around there, very quick pit stop cathedral, lunch or brunch and out.

I always park in the multi story car park in the city centre.

Zimniy · 30/10/2024 22:34

Queningate parking is super close to the old town and Cathedral. There is also a multi story car park next to the station and from there it's a 10 minute walk into town.

Park and Ride. There's three of them, buses from all take only about 5 mins and way cheaper than all the city centre ones for a reason. If you go to the Wincheap one you can also walk there or back along the river and through the playground. It's nice.
