Help me find a chest of drawers

I am desperate for new drawers. Wooden ones! We always get the sodding Ikea Malm drawers which always collapse in on themselves whether we fill them with 3 t shirts of 100lbs of weights.

I want white wooden drawers with wooden runners / wooden insides. Not metal runners - this is key. I want 2 sets, with 5 drawers in each. I don't want to pay over £700 for both which I don't think is unreasonable but I'm finding nothing.......

Please help. Or if you have good white solid wood drawers please suggest!!! I feel like I've been looking for months and have found nothing which suits.

I hate ikea malm drawers.

Op have you tried Facebook marketplace or charity shops??? I've always used IKEA and they are still going strong after 15 years 🤔 also I think wooden runner's might snap after a lot of use??

There are so many in antique or second hand places, take a look there. Or on FB marketplace

I've come across literally hundreds of scam marketplace ads; the clue is if it's a young lady who has joined fb this year - you message the seller and the price goes from £50 to £300 and usual scam type posts.

I have had 3 sets of malm drawers and all have collapsed.

Auctions can be a great source of high quality wood furniture. But you have to either cast a wide net or be prepared to wait for what you want.

I highly recommend in-person viewing. After that you can bid online and get your purchases delivered for a reasonable price

Vinterior sell antique furniture which can run into £££ but occasionally there's a bargain.

The Cotswold Company sell nice new furniture. Oak Furniture Land isn't as nice but worth a look.

Alternatively get a local chippie to knock some up for you.

I’d look on Etsy, there is loads of furniture on there, some new made to order, and some vintage/ upcycled. You could look for sets of matching chests of drawers. I got an upcycled mid-century modern chest of drawers, beautifully painted and finished - it’s solid wood and really looks lovely.

If that doesn’t appeal, I think John Lewis have a few in your price range.

Another vote for Gumtree or your local furniture reuse centre.

You buy a solid wood chest of drawers and paint it white surely?
We have two of the kind you want which we bought like 20 years ago in a pine shop in Brighton I think.
The wooden runners is going to be hard to find otherwise as most shops do metal runners.

Also check out BHF furniture, it can be a waiting game but they do have some gems a few other charities also sell furniture worth checking in the local area
Also have a couple of antique emporium type shops locally that have lots of individual sellers under one roof again worth checking out if you have any reasonably local, another charity that’s sells good quality wood furniture I think called Bethel restored (or something very similar) oh & Emmaus charity furniture warehouse can be a good hunting ground, I recently purchased a practically brand new DFS sofa for £120

Thank you all, so much, you've given me hope I may find something! Will start scouring some new sites!

I don't object to metal runners if they are very hard wearing, if anyone has recommendations!

IKEA Hemnes are solid. The bottom of the drawers are thinner, we added bracing to ours.
I've also bought drawers on eBay, and from auctions. Handles can be changed to make things look nicer.
