Day out for 3rd birthday in the North West?

It’s DS’s birthday at the weekend. His cousins were meant to be coming for a little tea party but we’ve just been told that they can’t come now so we thought we’d just have a day out with us and his little brother, who’s 1 and then some cake at home later.

Has anyone got any ideas of a nice day out we can take him to? Some places seem to be closed for the season (Father Ted’s) or recent reviews are poor (Ice Cream Farm). Some places seem too old or wrong for the time of year.

He's been very lucky recently to go to spend the night in a zoo/ safari and go to the Jurassic World exhibition in Manchester, so nothing too similar to that please.

We’ve been to the deep in hull but it’s awkward to get to if you’re further north than Teesside.

lilidorei at Alnwick??

Gettingannoyednow · 31/10/2024 20:24

Whereabouts in the North East, roughly?

Gettingannoyednow · 31/10/2024 20:27

Hall Hill Farm? Has loads of different bits to it.

😬 Just realised I’ve made a massive mistake- I’m actually in the North West!

Where in the North West? Does he like animals? You could try Martin Mere or Smithills open farm.

tinyshoulders · 31/10/2024 20:43

Oh I like the Ice Cream Farm! Could you narrow down where you are a bit?

DreamingDaisies · 31/10/2024 20:48

I'm desperate to go to Cbeebies land at Alton Towers - that might be too much or too far (or too busy with half term).

I also always love the Mersey ferry with small children - park in Woodchurch, potter over to one of the Liverpool museums with a kid friendly exhibition on, then ferry back.

Gullivers world at warrington or chester zoo, might be worth a try.

Ice cream farm is fine.
Bewilderwood
A trampoline Park (any)
Castaway Play
Soft play? Lots of choices, Banana Ben's in N.Wales, Zippys in Chester etc
Gruffalo Clubhouse, Blackpool
Walton Gardens
Xplore in Wrexham
Z Arts, Manchester

Also, take a look at Thepatmores on Instagram

Ice Cream Farm is great! We were there at the end of the summer hols and everything was fine. Except wasps, but I don't think they'll still be around. I like it because yes, the activities do add up, but it feels very safe to let the kids loose to explore and lots of indoor bits for bad weather. Not sure when the bad reviews were written but we honestly have a great experience whenever we go there.

Poppity3 · 31/10/2024 21:27

Windmill animal farm is great for that age! And there’s an indoor soft play too

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 31/10/2024 22:24

Windmill foam looks perfect! Thank you
