What to pack for a city break with kids?

We are going to Venice on Thursday. We haven't been on a city break before. We are hand luggage only.

I've got a block plug, passports and a few travel games out so far. I've said one shoes each and no heavy coat as it isn't forecast to be cold.

Normally they take a bunch of books everywhere we go, so I've limited them to 3.

What airline and what size hand baggage eg if Ryanair is it an underseat bag or the one you have to pay for?

How long are you going for?
I’d probably go WITH a big coat personally, means you can ‘wear it’ as you board the plane but pack less bulky layers in your bags.
what’s your cabin baggage allowance?
Are basic toiletries included at your accommodation?

Big different between a paid for cabin bag and standard hand luggage. Which is it? Wear as much as you can.

Cabin bag is 10kg each. A bag and a small bag. Kids can carry their own (althought probably not 10kg all day). It is Jet2.

We are staying in an apartment. I was going to buy shower gel, shampoo and conditioner over there probably. We will need to get some food too, basics probably. I guess the TV won't be in English? I can't decide whether to take tablets and chargers.
