Melatonin for ASD/ADHD child who can’t fall asleep

Long story short, DS age 9 has always struggled with sleep (both falling and staying asleep). He’s currently only getting around 5/6 hours of broken sleep a night and is exhausted. We’ve tried everything imaginable to help him except melatonin. In complete desperation (and on the advice of a local ASD charity) I ordered some 1g melatonin gummies from Piping Rock in the US (we cannot get melatonin prescribed on the NHS here) but I’m really worried about giving him something I’ve bought on the internet. Has anyone done this?

My relative has two kids with severe SEN. We've been ordering piping rock melatonin for years. The oldest one has only just been prescribed melatonin because the paediatrician felt so sorry for her. The hoops they make you jump through are absolutely disgraceful. Do what you need to do OP. My older DD also takes it because she has insomnia due to anxiety. You need your sleep ❤️

We were actually awaiting diagnosis but seeing the paediatrician to discuss coordination challenges, I wasn't actually expecting her to ask the GP to prescribe melatonin, it was just part of the history. But I'm sure you could get a referral for sleep issues.

I've bought melatonin online and it's fine. I use the iHerb site.

Have you tried antihistamines with the sleepinees? GP prescribed my son Phenegran. It works
