...when you're feeling under the weather? Mine are all childhood favourites and not particularly nice sounding, but I love them. 😂

Eggs in a cup with bread and butter.
Carrot and turnip mash with peas and onion gravy.
Mashed potatoes with fried eggs broken through.
Tea and toast (with the toast dipped in the tea).
Homemade vegetable soup, left brothy and chunky.
Tomato soup with cheese on toast.

I said to DH earlier that I think I'm coming down with something, and he asked if it was a carrot job or a soup job. 🤣 I also remember being given salad cream and plain salad sandwiches as a kid for lunch when I was ill. Sadly I tried that as an adult and didn't really enjoy it!

YellowTambourine · 27/10/2024 17:06

I'm starving now 😩

Soup & toast

Plain rice with soy sauce or hummus

Any carby food really! I never get the sort of illness that takes away your appetite...

I'm not feeling under the weather, but I am feeling tired. We are having fish finger sandwiches for tea!

EUmumforever · 27/10/2024 17:22

Boiled/microwaved potato cubes with salt, olive oil and mayonnaise

hellsbells99 · 27/10/2024 17:24

my go to is Heinz tomato soup and white buttered toast.
DH is under the weather - might be down to having Covid & flu jabs a couple of days ago or might be coming down with something. He has to go to work shortly for a 12 hour night shift, some of which is outdoors and it’s tipping it down! I have just made him a slow cooker chicken casserole with mash and he is definitely feeling happier after that. He is also planning to take some into work to eat in the middle of the night.

BigDahliaFan · 27/10/2024 17:56

White rice, Parmesan and chilli sauce

ObtuseMoose · 27/10/2024 18:15

Rice pudding or banana custard.
My mum used to make me coffee with Carnation evaporated milk in to take to school in a flask, I don't drink coffee these days but it was very comforting at the time.

Iliketulips · 27/10/2024 18:23

Can tomato soup, has to be out of a can and not freshly made!

mathanxiety · 27/10/2024 18:34

Freshly mashed potatoes with a knob of butter melted on top.
Carrot and ginger soup.
Egg fried rice.
Chicken stew with dumplings.

TripleCarber · 27/10/2024 18:42

Corned beef hash - but basically just corned beef mixed with super buttery mash and ketchup on the side.

Macaroni cheese

donner kebab with tons of garlic sauce, all the salad and some chips on the side

arinya · 27/10/2024 18:44

Carbs

Coffeeandcake32 · 27/10/2024 18:50

Just something about a Sunday Roast that is super comforting to me.

Inextremis · 27/10/2024 19:02

Daal with fried onions, garlic, cumin seeds and - most importantly - black mustard seeds.
Vegetable soup, including carrots, leeks, onions, and potatoes, smooth, with loads of white pepper, and a chunk of homemade bread.
Pan-fried smoked haddock with poached eggs and Patak's chilli pickle.

wendywoopywoo222 · 27/10/2024 19:03

Marmite sandwiches always make me feel better.

coffeesaveslives · 27/10/2024 19:03

Cheesy instant mashed potatoes with frozen veggies and butter.
Sausages and mash.
Beans on toast.
Beef stew with dumplings.
Cheese and crackers.

TenWeeCaramelJoeys · 27/10/2024 19:04

Curry super noodles.
Cream of tomato soup.
Banana on toast.
Fried eggs with chips. And brown sauce.

Any or all of these and I'm happy😃

chattyness · 27/10/2024 19:09

Coddled eggs with fish finger soldiers to dip in them

abracadabra1980 · 27/10/2024 19:14

Lovely bread and butter.

KickboxingWanker · 27/10/2024 19:17

Fried onions with cheddar cheese melted in.
Eat it with sausages and white bread.

buffyspikefaith · 27/10/2024 19:17

I have food poisoning and the only things I can stomach are plain salted hula hoops with extra salt and full sugar coke
Weirdly my hangover cure too!

If I'm just full of a cold then
Heinz tomato soup with cheese grated into it and part baked bread
Egg in a cup or scrambled on toast

RabbitsRock · 27/10/2024 19:26

If I’m ill, it’s Heinz tomato soup. Otherwise my comfort foods include bangers & mash, poached eggs on toast & DM’s choc fudge pudding ( haven’t had it for years but it’s to die for!)

user17241775 · 27/10/2024 19:29

mince n tatties
smoked haddock cooked in milk, with tatties
sausage casserole with...yes more tatties
fish finger butty (no tatties)

packet ramen for the wild card!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/10/2024 19:31

Marmite toast.

My eldest son is THE BEST at making it, it's perfection 👌

LindorDoubleChoc · 27/10/2024 19:32

White sourdough toasted with butter and marmite.
