How do I know if I want to date someone?

Or them me?

I was married forever and I actually know quite a few eligible singles men around my age and because of a couple of hobbies, meet new ones on a fairly regular basis.

Most are perfectly pleasant, both to talk to and to look at. Some I get on really well with, but they're all friends, with no hint of anything else.

I know it's ridiculous, but how do you meet someone and be seen/see them as a potential date rather than a friend?

Oh God, I wish this were true of my male friend. <moon eyes>

Well I've never had this problem as the majority of my adult life seems to have been me lurching from one romantic drama to the next but I guess I'd try to bring the topic up in some kind of low-key way.

Do you go out socialising as a group? You could throw in "some of the women in work are hassling me to get online dating... The thought fills me with dread. Things were so different when I met Ex."

Then you're putting it out there that you're thinking about dating but clueless. Any interested parties may then make themselves known.
