Just that really. How would you spend it?

Get rid of a chunk of mortgage.

BCBird · 15/03/2025 17:43

Put it towards my house move. It would then mean less compromise

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 15/03/2025 18:19

Replace my kitchen. It needs everything doing, including rewiring.

If there was anything left over I'd put it towards having the driveway resurfaced.

Pay off my mortgage, nearly!

CottageHearth · 03/04/2026 17:15

I've inherited 300k. I've no idea what to do with it. Buy a nicer house? Buy a rental or holiday home? Save it for old age,?

TulipsDaffsAndSunshine · 03/04/2026 17:24

Stick it on the mortgage or decorate my house

TheBlueKoala · 03/04/2026 17:26

Nice problem to have:). Buy a nicer house it would be for me. Buying a rental comes with problems. My Mil had a lawyer renting her appartment- he didn't pay for over a year and there was no legal way to put him out..

Well I have had this day dream a few times so I know 🤣

I would first of all pay off credit cards . Only (!) 6k combined, but because we pay as much as possible off each month , it’s a big percentage of our outgoings.

then I would pay off sons tutoring for the next 14 months.

this combined would save us about £500 per month going forward, which would give us much more freedom and flexibility.

I would pay off 50% of my mortgage, which would in theory save us another £250 per month

leaving 10k left over for a new kitchen.

The flat I rent is worth £80k so I would use most of it as a deposit to buy it, holding back enough to install french doors and a ramp so I can get in and out by myself in a power chair.

Currently the NHS have said I qualify for a power chair by need, but they can't fund one as there is no way to get one in and out of my flat due to steps and narrow corridors. The landlord won't fund major adaptations (I genuinely think he can't afford it rather than him being mean). I can't get a disability grant as I already had one to convert the bathroom.

I can't move to a more suitable property as I can't find one to rent anywhere in my city that is affordable and I can't move too far away from my carers. Since my partner and dad both died two years ago I've been mostly trapped inside apart from when my new carers are free on the weekends (they work full-time).

It would completely change my life around and let me come and go as I please.

Dental work - UK not Turkey so ££

Spend some on a holiday , save the rest .

Growlybear83 · 03/04/2026 18:01

I’d get some lovely wardrobes fitted and fill them with shoes and handbags.

Some landscaping to the back garden
