Secondary schools for academic, anxious boy

Our local authority’s EP told our son’s SenCo yesterday that she doesn’t think there’s a school in our borough which would be right for him. He’s autistic and needs somewhere tiny and nurturing but properly academic (he’s not a genius but when he’s well supported and not in absolute panic mode, he’d be getting As at old-school GCSEs).

We live in SW London and are now having to look very quickly for somewhere suitable (he’s already in Year 6). We can’t afford private but it’s worth looking at places the LA might accept as the right choice.

London and Surrey are the obvious places for us to look but I’d really welcome all suggestions even if they seem a bit far geographically or in term of the commute - we can’t be complacent and so I want to make sure I’m not missing anywhere.

Thank you - very much appreciated.

@HerculesMulligan you might be better getting this moved to the Secondary Education board and edit the title to give the area you need.

Both deliberate choices to try to cast the net widely, but thank you.
